Next Creek (Nature Conservancy of Canada): This large land acquisition (7,881 hectares/19,474 acres) grows the size of the Darkwoods Conservation Area by 14% and protects the ecological integrity of a conservation network that has national and international significance and protects habitat of wide-ranging species like grizzly bear and wolverine. It is the last missing piece in a vast conservation landscape puzzle that extends over 1,100 km2. The long-term vision for this landscape, the only inland temperate rainforest in the world, is that it is a global example of effective, large landscape conservation through a connected network of private and public conservation lands.
