The Fish and Wildlife Compensation Program (FWCP) is a strong believer in the long-term benefits from acquiring, and effectively managing, high-value conservation properties for fish and wildlife. As a result, the FWCP has been proud partner and supporter of the Kootenay Conservation Program for many years, and is pleased to be a part of the positive results achieved to-date.
The FWCP in the Columbia region is a partnership of BC Hydro, the Province of B.C., First Nations, and community groups, to conserve and enhance fish and wildlife impacted by the construction of BC Hydro dams. Since its inception in 1995 it has spent more than $72 million in the Basin, on more than 1,000 projects, towards supporting thriving and sustainable watersheds. The FWCP also operates in the Coastal and Peace regions of the province. For more information please visit fwcp.ca.
