Swallow Sightings
Photo: Alistair Fraser
The Bank Swallow has been designated as Threatened in Canada due to steep declines and is listed under the Species at Risk Act. The Kootenay Bank Swallow Survey is giving us a better picture of the current status of this species in our region and will allow for comparisons with historical data.
Here’s how to report:
- identify colony locations
- take photographs of colonies
- count numbers of burrows (in the field or from photographs)
- record date and number of adults observed
- OR, email us to request a data form
