KCP hosted a Spring Tour to the Fort Shepherd Conservancy south of Trail on June 26.
Owned by The Land Conservancy of British Columbia, this beautiful property features open dry habitats, rare plant communities, and Species at Risk. Many KCP partners and other biologists shared their knowledge including Al Mallette from the Trail Wildlife Association and Irene Manley from the provincial government who provided a historical context, Dave DeRosa from Okanagan Nation Alliance who described restoration opportunities and emphasized the cultural Importance of the area, and presentations on rare species including reptiles by Jakob Dulisse, swallows and invertebrates by Janice Arndt, and plants and pollinators by Valerie Huff.
Highlights of the tour also included a visit to a Teck restoration site. This event provided a valuable opportunity for KCP partners to network and share information.
