Gary Burnett presents on “The History of the Blackfoot Challenge Watershed”
Webinar Air Date: February 11, 2016 at 11:00 am – 12:00 pm (MST)
Gary Burnett has 30 years of experience in natural resource management and nonprofit development. He has worked for the public and private sectors on land protection and stewardship; prescribed fire; and land, wildlife and habitat management. Gary served as the Blackfoot Challenge’s Executive Director since May of 2007 guiding the organization’s array of community-based programs.
In this presentation, Gary discusses the history of community-based conservation in the Blackfoot watershed, the keys to its success, and the Challenge’s recent efforts to increase the scale of these outcomes regionally and help implement the community-based approach as “the way of doing business” across the nation. Gary covers the geography and history of the Blackfoot Challenge, the work completed in this watershed, including outcomes, responses and results. The Blackfoot Watershed is a small part of a larger initiative related to conservation; Gary showcases what their part of the grand scale is, how their work is connected to and may assist with conservation efforts in other watersheds, and how interconnected practices can create collaborative conservation.
