Slocan River Island (The Nature Trust of BC): This 60-hectare (148-acre) property is located in the Slocan River Valley, providing a valuable link in the riparian corridor between the communities of Slocan and Winlaw. The property is comprised of cottonwood forest, mixed conifer forest and wetland plant communities, with important rainbow trout rearing areas and waterfowl habitat in the back channels, moose and elk winter range, and Townsends big-eared bat foraging sites. Slocan River Island is an important contribution to the conservation of riparian and wetland ecosystems on the Slocan River.
