Click here for an excellent article published in the July 27, 2017 Valley Voice Newspaper about the Fish Lake Toad Ambassador program, one of the 2017 projects supported by the Kootenay Lake Local Conservation Fund, administered by the Kootenay Conservation Program in partnership with the Regional District of Central Kootenay.
“… The volunteers dedicated more than 44 hours moving a total of 334 toads off the highway. Of those, 80 were confirmed females; and for every female moved off the road as many as 12,000 to 17,000 eggs are saved, meaning future tadpoles are saved… “
