The Kootenay Conservation Program (KCP) has been presented with a $3750 donation through BC Hydro’s FirstWave program.

The objective of this program is to educate and empower students to take action on conservation within their community. The classroom resources available are developed by B.C. teachers and are designed to encourage schools to develop and foster a culture of conservation. Through online interaction with FirstWave, classroom teachers and students accumulate points counted in “Conservation Drops” (the program’s currency) which are then donated to B.C. conservation organizations, including the KCP. This is the second year that KCP has been a beneficiary of this program specifically for their support of Northern Leopard Frog conservation and re-introduction efforts
