Program Manager – Juliet Craig
Juliet brings a collaborative and innovative mindset to ecological projects. She works out of Nelson and has a broad range of conservation experience including invasive plant management, bat conservation, species at risk planning, and environmental education. This experience has allowed her to focus on the connections between people and the land and the important role of private landowner stewardship in conservation. Juliet has an M.Sc. in ethnobotany and is a Registered Professional Biologist and Professional Agrologist. When not working, she enjoys camping and exploring the beautiful Kootenay region with her family.
Stewardship Coordinator – Marcy Mahr
Marcy enjoys linking the worlds of science, stewardship, sustainable agriculture and environmental education. She began with KCP back in 2009 by providing conservation property evaluations to the Securement Team and then moved onto serving as KCP’s Stewardship & Communications Manager co-leading the broadening of the partnership to include both the East and West Kootenays. In the meantime, she’s sharpened her abilities in landscape-level conservation action planning, mucked around in wonderfully rich wetlands, tracked countless western toads by headlamp, and inspired Basin youth to know their watersheds. Her lifelong passion for conserving biodiversity has shaped her professional career over the past 28 years, and led her to work in amazing places all over western Canada and the US. Marcy has a M.Sc. in Plant Ecology and a B.A. in Sociology/Anthropology & Northern Studies. She lives with her family on a small permaculture farm in the Slocan Valley.
