The Kootenay Wildlife Heritage Fund’s mission is to ensure the future of big game in the Kootenay region, to assist in acquiring specific land for that purpose, and to promote our hunting heritage.

Operating with the understanding that livestock mortality or property/crop damage perpetuates intolerance to grizzly bear presence, Grizzly Bear Coexistence Solutions provides grizzly bear safety and electric fencing workshops, public outreach, and a cost share with residents on electric fencing to protect livestock and crops from bears.

Grizzly Bear Coexistence Solutions (GBCS) is helping recovery efforts of grizzly bear populations in the south and west arm of Kootenay Lake by working to improve human-grizzly bear coexistence through education, collaboration, and the use of practical tools.
