Our Mission:

Kootenay Connect takes a landscape approach to strategically identify opportunities to conserve ecological corridors in southeastern BC that sustain healthy wildlife populations, connectivity, and ecosystem resilience by

• evaluating key habitats and landscapes for wildlife movement, biodiversity, and ecological processes in a changing climate;

• promoting conservation and stewardship practices that maintain, enhance, and/or restore corridor connectivity;

• providing scientific guidance for large-scale land use planning and policy; and

• fostering relationships and collaborations with Indigenous communities, governments, conservation partners, and others to enhance regional ecological connectivity.

Our Vision:

Our vision is a regional network of ecological corridors connecting landscapes and ecosystems that support healthy native biodiversity and wildlife throughout the Kootenays.
