Critter Day, hosted by KCP and the Fish & Wildlife Compensation Program (FWCP), returned to Beaver Creek Provincial Park on May 12. It was a huge success, drawing a record-breaking crowd of nearly 700!
Numerous exhibitors helped make the event interactive and memorable. The event included a “critter zoo” containing local snakes, frogs, toads, lizards and skinks, plus there were juvenile White Sturgeon, a Great Horned Owl and Gyr-Peregrine Falcon on display. . There were also displays from the West Kootenay Beekeepers, Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society, BC Parks, the Freshwater Fisheries Society of B.C., and the Kokanee Creek Nature Centre.
Funding for the event was provided by BC Hydro, Columbia Basin Trust, Columbia Power, FortisBC and Teck, as well as by KCP and FWCP.
